What handle.update accepts — everything a drawing owns except its identity and its kind. Partial distributes over the union, so each kind patches only its own fields — at the type level only loosely: TypeScript's excess-property check on a union admits any property that appears in some member, so a literal mixing kinds ({ price, levels }) compiles. The runtime check against PATCHABLE_FIELDS is the real door; a handle isn't generic over its kind, so the type can't be tighter without widening the handle contract.
